Amazon Reveals Top 20 North America Contender Cities For Second HQ

Amazon is seeking a second headquarters in North America and has announced the narrowing down of their list to the top 20 cities. They expect to invest over $5 billion in construction and grow this location to have as many as 50 thousand high paying jobs. It will be a full equal to their HQ in Seattle. In addition to the direct hiring, there are tens of thousands of additional jobs expected to be created in surrounding communities and in connected industries. In Seattle, Amazon has also donated heavily to non profits, given away free bananas, and works hard at building green buildings and environments. They asked cities to submit sites, economic incentives, infrastructure and more.

And the contenders are:

  1. Atlanta, GA
  2. Austin, TX
  3. Boston, MA
  4. Chicago, IL
  5. Columbus, OH
  6. Dallas, TX
  7. Denver, CO
  8. Indianapolis, IN
  9. Los Angeles, CA
  10. Miami, FL
  11. Montgomery County, PA
  12. Nashville, TN
  13. Newark, NJ
  14. New York, NY
  15. Northern Virginia, VA
  16. Philadelphia, PA
  17. Pittsburgh, PA
  18. Raleigh, NC
  19. Toronto, CN
  20. Washington DC

Perhaps they can pick representatives and duke it out gladiator style? Or will tax abatements win the day? Stay tuned for the final announcement!
